Heritage Routes
2011
Join our trips and excursions
throughout the year on our vintage half-cab buses, capturing the spirit of
England's rural history.
Summer Routes 2011 include: Route 569 to Hawes every Tuesday,
NEW Route 469 to Hardraw every Tuesday,
Route 572 to Barnard Castle every Wednesday .
We are no longer operating Route 570
Tuesdays (Easter - End of October)
ROUTE 569 - Kirkby Stephen to Hawes.
This once a week service goes from Ravenstonedale via Kirkby Stephen &
the scenic Mallerstang Valley to the lively town of Hawes on market day
(Tuesday).
We stop at Hawes Creamery, home of Wensleydale cheese, and Hawes Station
in good time for lunch. Your bus ticket entitles you to great special
offers at various shops and attractions. The views from
the bus are terrific and the leisurely pace allows time for
contemplation and conversation. This is also a hail and ride service so
we can pick you up and drop you anywhere along the route.
Staff allowing (in other words if
Alison is free) then we have a guided tour through the
Mallerstang.
If you know your plans please book ahead so we can
put on an extra bus if necessary although this is a regular service bus,
so
we go regardless.
569 Timetable, dates and prices.
Tuesdays (Easter to end of October)
Route 469 - Hardraw.
New for 2011, this route is a Hawes Circular out to Hardraw
and will be running 3 times every Tuesday. Replacing route 570 this is a
beautiful route through the back lanes out to Hardraw. Once there you can walk
to the spectacular waterfall or visit a lovely little cafe or really push the
boat out and have a real ale pint at The Green Dragon. On a beautiful day it's a
lovely place for a picnic. Then you can catch the next bus back or take a stroll
through the fields back to Hawes.
Tuesdays at Hawes are definately one for a bus lovers diary
as we also connect with the Wensleydale
Heritage Service operated by Chris Bulmer.
570 Timetable, dates and prices.
Wednesdays (Easter to end of October)
SUMMER Route 572 - Barnard Castle.
Another once a week service going from Ravenstonedale through
Kirkby Stephen and then over the tops passed dramatic fells and scenic
reservoirs to Middleton in Teesdale. You get 10 minutes for a quite 'Tea and
Pee' stop before ambling along the valley
through Eggleston to Barnard Castle. We coincide with the weekly market at
Barney and for the more culturally minded there's the Castle and Bowes Museum.
Return is straight back along the A66.
SUMMER 572 Timetables, dates and prices.
WINTER Route 572 - Barnard
Castle (Beginning Nov - Easter)
A once a week service different from the summer route, we run out
and back over the A66 missing the challenging Middleton in Teesdale detour.
