Heritage Routes 2008

Join our trips and excursions throughout the summer on our vintage half-cab buses, capturing the spirit of England's rural history.

Routes 2007 include: Route 560 to Hawes every Tuesday, Route 570 to Ribblehead every Tuesday, Brough Farmers Market 3rd Sat every month and hopefully The Kendal Klipper!

Tuesdays  (25th March - 28th October)
ROUTE 569 - Kirkby Stephen to Hawes. 

This once a day service goes from Ravenstonedale via Kirkby Stephen & the scenic Mallerstang Valley to the lively town of Hawes on market day (Tuesday). We stop at Hawes Creamery, home of Wensleydale cheese, and Hawes Station in good time for lunch. Your bus ticket entitles you to great special offers at various shops and attractions. The views from the bus are terrific and the leisurely pace allows time for contemplation and conversation. This is also a hail and ride service so we can pick you up and drop you anywhere along the route.
Staff allowing (in other words if Alison is free) then we have a guided tour through the Mallerstang.  
If you know your plans please book ahead so we can put on an extra bus if necessary although this is a regular service bus, so we go regardless.

Tuesdays  (1st July - 28th October)
Route 570 - Ribblehead.

The bus leaves Hawes during the middle of the day to travel along the fantastic dales valley to Ribblehead Viaduct and Station on the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway Line. We stop there for an hour to catch two trains, so if you don't need a train there's plenty of time to visit the small station museum, walk to the viaduct or enjoy a scrumptious pub lunch at The Station Inn. We leave in time to return to Hawes for the rest of the 569 route.

Brough Farmers Market up to August 2008

On the 3rd Saturday every month we run a FREE bus service for Brough Farmers Market. Starting in the village of Ravenstonedale and passing through Kirkby Stephen and Winton we run every hour. The market at Brough is a wonderful place to buy fresh produce straight from the Farmers including organic veg, farm baking, free range pork and trout from our local Bessy Beck fishery.

The Kendal Klipper

For the last 8 years, during the summer, we have operated a Park and Ride service around Kendal Town Centre. Using our 1949 Leyland Tiger, Alex this service has become extremely popular with locals and tourists alike. Unfortunately we never know until about late May whether we have the contract however the timetable from 2007 is below and we would hope to start on the last week in July.
